What is driving the mass transition to solar trackers in Europe?

Tracker Horizon is a solar mounting system with single-row supports and single-row photovoltaic modules. Based on standard industry components with self-locking linear actuators on each individual support as part of a fully sealed drive system, Sigma TR2 sets the standard for reliability, durability, and simplicity.

The Tracker Horizon is equipped with sensors for snow, wind, and solar radiation. It features adaptive tracking (with or without backtracking), protection against abnormal wind speeds and/or heavy snow accumulation. Using proprietary HORIZON MS software and a web-based user interface, Horizon allows the development and seamless integration of custom functions.

Local support, integrated software/control system, and potential for future upgrades.

SOLARsk has completed the construction of the first solar power plant in Ukraine built on the basis of a domestically produced tracker system — HSAT HORIZON STR-111.

    A solar tracker is a mechanism that smoothly rotates solar modules throughout the day following the movement of the sun, keeping them in the most efficient position. Thanks to this, the power plant operates more stably throughout the day, and the total amount of generated energy increases significantly. For the owner of a solar power plant, this is not just an additional element, but an opportunity to get more from the same installed capacity and return investments faster. We create dynamic mounting systems designed for long-term and precise operation in real conditions. Our solutions are created so that the client receives the maximum result every day.

    Operating principle of the solar tracker

    The operating principle of our tracker is simple and at the same time technically precise. For the panels to work at their maximum, they must be accurately oriented toward the sun throughout the day. This is exactly what the solar tracker provides — a device that continuously tracks the position of the light and adjusts the tilt angle of the solar modules. The task of the system is to ensure that the sun’s rays fall on the plane of the panels as close as possible to a perpendicular angle, because it is in this position that the plant produces the most energy.

    All movements are carried out using electromechanical drives that operate under the control of a controller. It receives information from light sensors or GPS, analyzes the trajectory of the sun, and sets the precise orientation of the structure. The drives smoothly rotate the panels, ensuring stable movement without jerks or overloads.

    As a result, the rotating mechanism for solar panels allows the power plant to operate more productively and efficiently. The device independently sets optimal angles, maintains the correct direction throughout the day, and allows you to get the maximum energy from each installed module.

    Types of rotating mechanisms for solar panels

    Modern solar trackers come in different designs, and the choice depends on the site conditions and the expected performance.

    The most common solutions:

    • Single-axis. Moves in one plane — mainly from east to west. Such a system is simpler, reliable in operation, and provides a significant increase in generation without significantly complicating the structure.
    • Dual-axis. Operates in two directions at once, taking into account both the daily movement of the sun and the seasonal change in its height.

    We design both types in such a way that they operate stably in difficult conditions and maximize the potential of the power plant.

    Advantages of using a solar tracker

    The use of tracking systems makes it possible to significantly increase the productivity of power plants, and we always support this with real figures. Rotating solar panels operate at the correct angle throughout the day. As a result, the investor receives a predictable increase in energy output and a more stable daily generation curve. These arguments most often become decisive for clients who plan to buy a solar tracker.

    Main advantages in figures:

    • +20–25% generation when using single-axis systems compared to stationary structures;
    • +35–45% performance for dual-axis solutions in regions with pronounced seasonality;
    • up to 10% additional increase when using bifacial panels, especially on open areas with good natural light reflection;
    • optimization of morning and evening peaks thanks to accurate tracking algorithms, which increases the value of the generated energy;
    • savings on grid connection — a more even daily generation reduces the load on inverters and the grid;
    • low self-consumption — only a few kWh per year for the full operation of drives and controllers.

    For large projects, these advantages become key, because solar trackers for power plants allow you to get significantly more energy from the same area and shorten the payback period of the station.

    Materials and quality

    We use only those materials that can withstand decades of operation in the open air. This is critically important, because the rotating system for solar panels is constantly under load: wind, cyclones, temperature changes, and humidity fluctuations. That is why we use metals and coatings that comply with international standards and guarantee structural stability.

    Aluminum elements at SolarSK are made from extruded profiles AlMg0.7Si 6063T66 according to EN 755-2. The material is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and does not lose strength over the years.

    The steel parts that bear the main load are made of C235 or C255 steel with hot-dip galvanizing up to 70 µm in accordance with GOST 9.307-89. This ensures decades of protection even in coastal or windy areas.

    Fasteners and mounting elements are available in the following options:

    • stainless steel A2, A4 (ISO 3506-1, ISO 3506-2);
    • carbon steel with Delta-MKS® coating (ISO 10683) in strength classes 5.8 and 8.8.

    This combination of materials completely eliminates corrosion damage and ensures safe operation of solar panels with rotating mechanisms for 25–30 years. We carefully select every component so that the system remains reliable, stable, and does not require unnecessary maintenance throughout the entire service life.

    Solar trackers from Solar Stalkonstruktsiya

    Our trackers operate in two independent modes, which guarantees continuous solar tracking under any conditions. In the standard active mode, the system uses automatic algorithms and complex sensors that analyze light intensity and adjust the panel position in real time. In passive mode, the tracker operates without photo sensors, using an astronomical calendar. This is important for stability, because even in the event of a sensor malfunction, the plant continues to operate without interruption. For clients comparing the price of a solar tracker and its real efficiency, such reliability becomes a decisive factor.

    Advantages of working with us:

    • own production in Ukraine — quality control at all stages;
    • professional installation and adaptation of solutions to local conditions;
    • warranty and service based on real experience, not on formal documents;
    • project support for agricultural, commercial, and industrial solar power plants.

    For us, it is important that the rotating structures for solar panels from Solar Stalkonstruktsiya work transparently, stably, and bring owners the maximum result throughout the entire service life.
