WHO IS TO BLAME AND WHAT TO DO?

Greeting! Contact Ihor Tarasenko and Anna Ryauzova – designers of the company “Solar Steel Construction”. We design solar stations and know everything about fastening and installation systems.

Recently, we often hear about cases of photovoltaic modules (PEM) falling, so we decided to find out and find the answer, who is to blame – rain, snow or wind? And immediately a spoiler – atmospheric phenomena are of no use here.

In this article, we will try to explain to you the reasons for the fall of FEM.

Progress does not stand still

A few years ago, photo modules of the same size could be observed on the Ukrainian market. As a rule, these were standard modules measuring 1640x992mm. In accordance with the growth of technologies to improve quality and productivity, more powerful modules began to appear, and today the length of the photomodule can vary from 1960 to 2300 mm, and the width from 992 to 1100 mm.

So what’s the problem?

In order to reliably fix photo modules on roofs and protect them from weather loads: wind, rain, snow, it is necessary to use durable and reliable fastening elements.

Today, the market of Ukraine presents a variety of clamps of different types and configurations for attaching photo modules. The development of photomodule technologies has taken place, but, unfortunately, for many manufacturers, the production technology of clamps has remained the same, without taking into account the new sizes of photomodules. And the use of old models of clamps in practice leads to miserable results.

A little math

Let’s do a little calculation. .
Photomodule 1640x990mm is 1.6 m2 of occupied area
Photomodule 2176×1098 is 2.4 m2 of occupied area
As can be seen from simple arithmetic calculations, the area occupied by the photomodules increased by almost 1 m, and the clamps, which were 3-4 cm long, remained the same.

What do the experts say?

Let’s turn to the leading solar module manufacturers and see what the manufacturers recommend regarding the mounting of their solar modules.

An unequivocal recommendation of FEM manufacturers: an increase in photomodules entails the need to increase the length of clamps.

What do we offer?

Solar Stalkonstruktion company – produces light, durable, reliable clamps with a length of 50 to 60 mm and a thickness of 3 mm. The design features of Solar Stalkonstruktion company clamps guarantee reliable fixation of your photo modules and protect them from weather loads: wind, rain, snow.

Main characteristics:

  • Length – 5 cm or 6 cm
  • Thickness – 3 mm
  • Anodized aluminum
  • Serrated edges – for better fixation of the photomodule
  • Have chamfered edges to reduce shading
  • They have a serrated surface to improve adhesion to the module frame

We will be happy to help you choose all the necessary elements, as well as advise on the configuration and placement of solar panels.
